Start your visit to The Hollywood Museum exploring the four world-famous makeup rooms where Max Factor turned actors and actresses of the day into Hollywood silver screen gods and goddesses!

Max Factor began developing his “Color Harmony” techniques in 1918. These powders + creams enabled him to customize and provide a more consistent make-up for each individual actor or actress. In 1935 when Max Factor opened his new studio on Highland Boulevard in Hollywood, the main floor featured four makeup rooms that transformed the “look” of Hollywood forever!

Here in the Brunettes Only Room, you realize you are standing where Hollywood icons Elizabeth Taylor, Joan Crawford and other silver screen goddesses got their stunning brunette looks. The sex appeal of brunettes in Hollywood was born in this room, and here at The Hollywood Museum you can see personal memorabilia photos of the starlets forever immortalized by Max Factor.
